Politics Just Got Fun

Whenever there’ s a presidential election, you can count on it starting two years early in Iowa, the state that’ s the first in the nation to help select candidates. It’s very easy for Iowans to get tired of politics well before the caucuses are held, so the Greater Des Moines Partnership asked SHift to help keep interest high. The result was a monthly social media game promoted and played on Facebook. Through quizzes, challenges among friends and more, the game keeps the caucuses top of mind in a fun, fresh way.

There are 99 counties in Iowa, each with a University of Iowa I-Club to support the university’s athletics, and each with its own calendar of events and set of donors. SHift helped the University of Iowa Foundation organize it all through a multi-tenant website. Each I-Club has its own area within the site, and through a multi-tiered e-commerce system that includes a tie-in with Paypal, making contributions has never been easier for members.

Hyperion has published enough bestsellers to fill a library — and a website. Using a new website design by SHift that includes a Content Management System (CMS) and integration with the Hyperion database, the publisher can showcase new and current book titles for a great user experience. Plus, they can update the site easily at any time to promote selected books.

Book Selection With Personal Style

Using an application developed by SHift for Hyperion Books, users create an avatar of themselves from a selection of elements, then the application selects books based on the avatar. So if you see yourself as a sword-wielding prince, some adventure books will be recommended by the application, which assigns books in the Hyperion book database with tags that match up with the selected avatar parts.
